There is one ingredient that I make sure to have available and in abundance in my kitchen – LOVE! There have actually been studies done that show that positive energy and emotion can be transferred into the food we make and enjoyed by those eating it! Not only is the meal healthier it tastes better too!
Have you ever made a romantic meal for your husband? The excitement and anticipation, the feelings of romantic love you stir up while making that special dinner are all there when he takes his first bite. Can you remember his candlelit smile and expression, “Wow! This is really delicious!” He could taste the love!
I notice a big difference in meals that I make in a hurry or during times of stress – they just don’t have the same feeling, presentation or flavor as those I make with a smile and a mind full of fond thoughts of my children and husband. And sometimes I even forget a key ingredient!
So, before you cook, slow down for a minute and think about those you are cooking for. Think about their smiles and their hugs, hear their laughter and imagine the sweet smell of their hair. Conjure up your good feelings and let them be the first and last ingredient of your dish.
This becomes increasingly fun when you are cooking with a child! Ask them who the meal is for. Daddy? Remind them, while you are cooking, of all the things we love about Daddy, how funny he is, how much he provides, how fast his car is…anything that stirs up love and gratitude and mixes it into the recipe will make your food taste better!
