If you are a parent you have probably heard the expression, “More is caught than taught.” It is a reality I experience on a daily basis. For better or for worse, my kids emulate me in so many ways. Sometimes it’s wonderful to hear them speaking kind and encouraging words to each other, repeating verbatim things I say, like “That’s such a beautiful drawing, you are so creative!” Bet there is also the not so flattering, “Sadie (our little dog), I can’t throw your ball every time I am sit down!”
They are always watching David and me, listening to our conversations and trying to determine how to live in this world. They want to do what we do, say what we say and act how we act. Right now, we are everything to them! I hope it stays that way for a long time.
So, for all you parents with children who will sit down next to you as indulge in your deliciously frothy cup of Bulletproof Coffee tomorrow morning, just to hear your little one say, “Yum! Can I try?” Here is something I came up with for my sweet little shadows.
“Bulletproof Hot Cocoa”. It’s rich, creamy and just as dreamy as the coffee! Maybe more so.
- 2 cups of milk (we use raw cow milk)
- 1 tbsp of pastured butter
- 1 tbsp of coconut oil
- ¼ cup cocoa powder
- 2-4 tbsp of sugar or honey (sweetener is so subjective, so use what your family likes in a quantity that you are comfortable with)
- Place all ingredients in a sauce pan over med-low heat, whisk until smooth and very warm. I serve this in espresso cups. It's like a kid sized coffee cup and they feel just like Mama (or Daddy) sipping their bulletproof beverage.
